Create Usernames Security Script, Random Stuff, and More

- needed a script to for some testing/auditing of servers/networks. Download it here:
- description is as follows:
# If you're aware of tools like 'thc-hydra' then you'll be aware that
# you need a list of usernames to be able to run brute force attacks
# against servers. The problem is that you often don't have a list of
# usernames to start with. This is where this script comes in.
# The input file requires names to allow the script to generate
# likely and probable usernames on the server or network in question.
# Extract names via websites, social media networks, phone lists,
# direct contact, social engineering, OSINT, etc...
## Example files have been included:
# ./create_usernames.sh names.txt > usernames.txt
#
# Obviously, I could have included automated crawling and bot
# capabilities but given my experiences previously with having to
# maintain up keep against counterbot technology have decided to leave
# it out.
#
# As this is the very first version of the program it may be VERY buggy.
# Please test prior to deployment in a production environment.

Random Quotes:
- I don't see it like that. He's not just some random flipper/investor. When he's advising for an ICO think about the simplest and most important thing that he can bring to the table: structure. He knows what information an ICO should make easily accessible and what matters should be stated clearly. Things like: do they have a working product? do they actually need a blockchain or a coin and why? is the team clearly displayed on the website and do they provide Linkedin/other reputable websites links?

These things are really important when looking into an ICO and they help investors make an informed decision. We all know how messy ICOs can be and how difficult it is digging through a whitepaper for some simple information. Now I don't know how he's advising exactly, but my guess is that he's doing at least this. Making ICOs more user friendly which is really important.
- It doesn't help, for example, that the average life of the short take-off, vertical landing (STOVL) F-35B's landing gear tire is less than 10 landings—a problem resulting from the aircraft's heavier weight than its conventional take-off cousins. It's simply difficult to engineer a tire capable of handling both vertical low-speed and conventional high-speed landings. The F-35B has also failed some structural testing, with the first aircraft used in tests literally falling apart. And the Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS)—software that combines diagnostics and repair functions with part inventory and verifies that the correct parts have been installed properly—has continued to get poor reviews.

A maintenance sergeant at VMFAT-50, the Marine Corps' F-35B training squadron at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, told Insinna that ALIS was slow for him, though Marines at MCAS Air Station Yuma, Arizona, reported better speeds. “We have a bunch of aircraft… And we have only so many servers,” the sergeant told Insinna. “They have less aircraft, and their servers aren’t booting up as much information.”

But things might be looking up. A Lockheed representative told Defense News that the company is exploring 3D-printing some parts to speed up repair cycles. And some of the lead times for parts provided to repair crews end up being very conservative estimates, with parts arriving in a month instead of the year lead time given to the services.

So, hopefully, things will get better. But the long-term cost of maintaining the F-35 fleet as it ages is still something of a wild guess at the moment. Based on some estimates, that price may be so high that the Air Force will have to eliminate a third of its planned F-35 purchase to stay on budget.
- The price of bitcoin sank late Wednesday after a report by the Wall Street Journal that the Securities and Exchange Commission is ramping up pressure on the initial-coin-offerings industry, issuing scores of subpoenas and information requests to companies. The Journal reported the SEC is seeking information about the structure of ICO sales and pre-sales. Bitcoin BTCUSD, +2.10% immediately fell about 2% after the report, and was last trading at $10,346, according to Coindesk. The SEC has previously suggested that many ICOs may be violating securities laws. In December, a new SEC cyber unit took its first action, halting an allegedly fraudulent ICO. An ICO is a fund-raising method in which a company issues its own cryptocurrency, typically in exchange for bitcoin. The process has significantly fewer regulatory hoops to jump through than an IPO, and the ICO market has been booming, with $6.5 billion raised last year. They're also highly risky -- according to a new survey, 46% of new ICOs in 2017 either flopped out of the gate or have since gone out of business.
- It marked the sixth non-combat crash for the U.S. Air Force in 2018, following seven last year.

The Air Force had ordered a series of safety stand-downs of flying and maintenance wings so that crews can work to determine how to prevent future crashes, the Air Force Times reported.

Last month, an Air Force training jet crashed in Mississippi during a routine training flight. Both pilots ejected safely. That crash unfolded a few hours before Defense Secretary Jim Mattis gave the commencement address at the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Weeks earlier, an Air Force cargo plane crashed outside Savannah, Ga., killing all nine aboard.

Kadena Air Base is located on Okinawa.
