This is being placed here for my own possible records and for others to use if so desired. This is based on recipes online and an interpretation of restaurants that I occasionally frequent. The point of these recipes is to achieve the best taste, in the quickest possible time, at the cheapest possible price. That's why the ingredients are somewhat non-traditional at times. Here's the other thing, it's obvious that they can be altered quickly and easily to suit other core ingredients. Don't be afraid to experiment.

For a while now I've wondered whether it's possible to create a simple Italian style tomato based fish soup recipe using cheap ingredients that was really simple and quick. It is.

The following ingredients are required:
- fish (anything is fine as long as it's boneless to make cooking and eating easier)
- diced tomatoes
- some sort of soup stock. I used chicken stock (cubes, liquid, or homemade is OK)
- Italian herb mix
- garlic
- water
- chilli sauce (can be Tobasco, Sambal Oelek, Sriracha or something else but it must be slightly sour to balance out flavours)
- chopped vegetables (such as carrot, broccoli, celery, potato, etc...)(optional)
- lemon juice/vinegar (optional)
- onion (optional)
- soy sauce (optional)
- fish sauce (optional)
- salt (optional)
- sugar (optional)
- pepper (optional)

You can basically put everything in a pot and cook until ready. Add optional ingredients at the end as they're mainly used to modify the taste to suit. Goes well with bread, pasta, and rice.

It'll look something like the following:

Random Quotes:
- Russian businesses bidding for public sector contracts are forced to shell out vast quantities of cash in order to win major deals, a new study conducted by researchers at one of the country's top universities has revealed.
The research, involving more than 1,200 company representatives surveyed by the Higher School of Economics (HSE) and made available to Moscow business daily outlet RBK on Monday, found that 71% of suppliers had encountered corruption during tendering processes. The average kickback is estimated to be around 22.5% of the contract's total value.
Researchers acknowledged that many may have avoided giving truthful answers to direct questions about dishonest dealings for fear of prosecution or public condemnation, however. The overwhelming majority (83%) of those surveyed said they condemned corruption.
The total amount of bribes in public procurement is estimated at almost $88.9 billion – 6.2% of Russia's official nominal GDP in 2020, or just over 35% of the federal budget revenue. According to the Institute of Public Administration at HSE, the volume of corrupt payments in procurement is higher even than spending on education or healthcare.
Just over half of the sample was made up of representatives of micro-enterprises (53%), while 34% represented small businesses, 6% medium-sized firms and 7% large companies.
Earlier this year, the head of the anti-corruption taskforce in the Prosecutor General's office, Viktor Baldin, revealed that the greatest number of bribery cases over the past year had been reported in the Russian capital, Moscow, which is home to government departments and senior public servants, as well as being a global financial and commercial hub.
The Republic of Tatarstan situated around 800km east of Moscow, took second place for dishonest dealings. Manufacturing hub Bashkortostan, tourism and commercial hot-spot Krasnodar, and Chelyabinsk, the industrial center of the Urals, also featured high in the rankings.
Corruption has long been a topic of concern in Russia. In 2018, a survey found that close to 80% of those living in the country wanted to see the introduction of the death penalty for officials and security officers convicted of pocketing dishonest cash.

- Reunification with the self-governing island democracy is not only the biggest piece of unfinished business for the Chinese Communist Party, but also would represent a major strategic boost.
"It matters because it's a piece of strategic geography and if China owns it, it can project military force into the wider region much more easily," Mr Shoebridge said. "In opposition to that, when it's not in mainland ownership it's a big constraint on PLA power projection."
In addition, Taiwan is a centre of hi-tech excellence in the field of semiconductors, which is currently an "enormous gap" for China.
"Transferring that technological capacity into the Chinese economy would close an enormous strategic technological gap China has and inflict enormous damage on the rest of us," he said.
Then there is the simple fact that Taiwan is a "vibrant democracy of 23 million people in the Indo-Pacific". "Well, if that doesn't matter to others – as a democracy of 25 million in the Indo-Pacific, we're making a fundamental error," Mr Shoebridge said.
He added, "The focus should be on credible deterrence – not on who would win a war."

- He served as foreign minister until 1980, acquiring a reputation as an effective, well-connected and hardworking minister, although he was seen by some as an international playboy, particularly through his well-publicised relationship with Shirley MacLaine (his marriage had by this time ended in divorce). He had a number of acrimonious disputes with Fraser, particularly over the recognition of the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. After the 1980 election he asked for a change of portfolio, and Fraser made him Minister for Industrial Relations. He also challenged for the deputy leadership against incumbent Phillip Lynch, but was defeated 47 votes to 35.[5][6] In April 1981 he resigned suddenly, accusing Fraser of constant interference in his portfolio. Fraser called a party meeting, at which Peacock tried to depose him as party leader and therefore prime minister. Fraser managed to fend off this challenge. John Howard succeeded Sir Phillip Lynch as deputy leader in the same meeting.

- Porter was listed as a contender for Cleo magazine's eligible bachelor of the year in 1999.[33][42]
He has described himself as "not particularly religious".[43]
In the mid 2000s, Porter married Lucy Gunn, but they divorced. In 2008, Porter married Jennifer Negus, a former colleague,[2] and granddaughter of former independent senator Syd Negus.[44] He took paternity leave after his wife gave birth to their first child the day after being sworn in as the social services minister.[45] They later had a second child, but announced their separation in January 2020.[46][2]
In November 2020, it was alleged on Four Corners that, although married, Porter had kissed and cuddled a colleague's political staffer in a public setting.[8] Porter denied the allegation. He claimed that the staffer in question had also denied to Four Corners that the event occurred, but that the denial was not mentioned in the report.[47] He again denied the allegation on the Perth radio station 6PR.[48]
In the program, former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull claimed that Porter's alleged behaviour had caused concern in the party room, although that was disputed by Porter.[8] Not long after he said he had raised the alleged incident with Porter, Turnbull promoted Porter to the position of Attorney-General. Porter attributed the criticisms made by Turnbull to a falling-out between the two men during the 2018 Liberal Party of Australia leadership spills, the event which ended Turnbull's prime ministership.[49]
Rape allegation
Main article: 2021 Australian Parliament House sexual misconduct allegations
In late February 2021, Australian media reported an alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1988. It alleged that the male offender was now (in 2021) a federal cabinet minister. She had written a long statement for her solicitor in 2019, and had contacted several politicians and police. She died by suicide in 2020 and her statement was sent anonymously in February 2021 to the prime minister and several other members of parliament.[50][51][52] On 2 March 2021 the police announced there was "insufficient admissible evidence" to secure a prosecution.[53] Porter announced on 3 March 2021 that he was the person named in the allegations. He confirmed he met the woman in Sydney when he was 17, but denied the accusation and any sexual contact with her. He also announced he would take immediate leave to look after his mental health following the accusations.[53][54][55]
On 15 March 2021, Porter launched a defamation claim against the ABC and reporter Louise Milligan, for publishing the allegation. His claim argued that although the original allegation did not name him, he was "readily identifiable" and that the article was intended to harm him.[56]

- What Westerners might never be inclined to think is that they have been manipulated into these beliefs by a deliberate US campaign to change public opinion against China, to demonize, discredit and isolate the country, to derail its international engagement and justify Washington's new priorities against it.
However, that, of course, is exactly what has happened. America's foreign policy engine relies on a playbook which is known as "manufacturing consent" – the weaponization of the resources of the state to coordinate experts, think tanks and journalists to focus attention on issues which subsequently sway public opinion to create organic support for Washington's policy preferences.
It is a strategy designed to create a "self-fulfilling prophecy" by masking aggression under the guise of inciting a "moral case" against the target in question. This is often done using the mantra of human rights, exploiting and manipulating people's goodwill through the theatrical orchestration of crisis, and subsequently masking the intended foreign policy objectives as a justified act of benevolence and "concern." It's what the US has done in the build-up to every war, and it's what they are doing now regarding China.

For a while now I've wondered whether it's possible to create a simple Asian style chicken noodle soup recipe using cheap ingredients that was really simple and quick. It is.

The following ingredients are required:
- chicken pieces
- water
- fish sauce
- soy sauce
- salt
- sugar or palm sugar
- garlic
- ginger
- carrots
- noodles (can be rice or egg based. This recipe seems to work with both)
- chicken stock (can be powdered or liquid)(optional)
- celery (optional)
- onion (optional)
- leek (optional)
- green vegetables (a lot of restaurants often use bean sprouts, buk choy, cabbage, or something similar)(optional)
- fried shallots (optional)
- star anise (optional)
- dumplings, char-siu, or roast pork (this gives it a more restaurant feel but isn't really needed)(optional)

Throw chicken pieces and chopped core ingredients into a pot of water or chicken stock. Boil this pot. Add vegetables and any other optional ingredients you may like. Add salt, fish sauce, and/or soy sauce to taste. Cook noodles separately. Ladle soup over noodles in soup bowl and serve.

It'll look something like the following:

Random Quotes:
- There’s an old stereotype about the difference between cats and dogs. Dogs are loving and fiercely loyal, they say, while cats are aloof and indifferent. Most cat people probably disagree – I certainly find it hard to believe, with my cat purring away in my lap, that she doesn’t care about me.
Overall, cat cognition research suggests cats do form emotional bonds with their humans. Cats seem to experience separation anxiety, are more responsive to their owners’ voices than to strangers’ and look for reassurance from their owners in scary situations.
But a new study, by researchers in Japan, complicates the picture of our relationship with cats. Adapting a method previously used to study dogs, the researchers found cats – unlike dogs – don’t avoid strangers who refuse to help their owners.
In the experiment, a cat watched as her owner tried to open a box to get at something inside. Two strangers sat on either side of the owner and the owner turned to one of them and asked for help. In “helper” trials, the stranger helped the owner to open the box. In “non-helper” trials, the stranger refused. The other stranger sat passively, doing nothing.
- Scott Morrison has declared that unemployed Australians who refuse to take jobs should have their Centrelink benefits withdrawn.
The prime minister is frustrated that 54,000 jobs are going begging in regional Australia - including at pubs, cafes and farms - despite the government's $6,000 relocation payment.
'Unemployed Australians are simply and regrettably not filling these jobs,' he told the AFR business summit in Sydney on Tuesday.
From April JobSeeker recipients will have to apply for 15 jobs a month, rising to 20 from July as the payment permanently increases by $50 a fortnight to $620.80.
'This is a fair exchange,' Mr Morrison said.
'If there is a job available, and you are able to do that job, then it is reasonable for taxpayers to expect that it will be taken up, rather than continue to receive benefits.'
Farmers have been struggling to hire workers due to a shortage of backpackers who have been unable to enter the country during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The prime minister warned that produce going unpicked on farms meant that food prices will rise for every Australian and described the waste as a 'tragedy.'
Another solution is to bring in temporary migrants on conditional visas to 'fill the gap' and boost the economy as a whole, thereby creating more jobs, he said.
'We have tried in the past to first get Australians into these jobs, but having tried to do that with any number of incentives,' Mr Morrison said.
'It has been incredibly difficult and we have to call it as it is. When Australians won't do the jobs, the jobs still need to be done.
'I can't have horticulturists ploughing their produce back into their fields because they can't get the workers.
'We must relook at the role that temporary visa holders play in meeting our economy's workforce requirements, where Australians do not fill these jobs,' he said.
Mr Morrison said he was open minded about reforming the immigration system and would look at conditional visas that could require workers to live in regional areas.
'We have got a real open mind on this,' he said.
'Conditionality is one of the great advantages of the temporary visa program. You can't put conditions on permanent visas.
'Those conditions can help us direct where people can go, which can ease pressures in metropolitan areas but hopefully ease pressures in regional areas.'

But, he said, he had little control over how he would be portrayed on the program, and that when he first appeared “I didn’t realise it was going to be a minefield, of sorts”.

- VANCOUVER — Grizzly bears seem to favour gently sloping or flat trails like those commonly used by people, which can affect land management practices in wild areas, says an expert who has written a paper on their travel patterns.
One of the reasons people encounter bears while hiking could be because they prefer the same routes as humans, said Gordon Stenhouse, a researcher at the Alberta-based Foothills Research Institute.
The study recently published in the Journal of Experimental Biology could be used by resource-based industries in areas like forestry, oil and gas exploration, especially in Alberta, he said in an interview.
“Grizzly bears alter their movement patterns and habitat use in response to a wide range of environmental cues, including seasonal food resources, human recreation — such as hiking, camping, hunting — livestock grazing and road use,” the study says.
The study was led by Anthony Carnahan, a doctoral candidate at Washington State University.
Stenhouse said the study can help understand what areas bears use, how fast they move, how best to conserve those places and avoid conflict with the animals.
“Bears will make decisions on lots of factors and certainly, you know, the information shows that bears look for easy routes of travel, just like people do,” he said.

Here's the other thing, it's obvious that they can be altered quickly and easily to suit other core ingredients. Don't be afraid to experiment.

For a while now I've wondered whether it's possible to create a chicken sweet corn soup using leftover roast chicken and cheap ingredients that was really simple and quick. It is.

The following ingredients are required:
- leftover roast chicken
- creamed corn
- chicken stock (can be powdered or liquid)
- water
- fish sauce

- eggs (optional)
- garlic (optional)
- onion (optional)
- ginger (optional)
- fried shallots (optional)
- dried shrimp (optional)

Tear up roast chicken flesh and and throw into pot of water or chicken stock (it doesn't matter if you leave the stuffing, bones, skin, etc... on because it'll break up over time). Add creamed corn to pot. Boil this pot. Drop eggs in and stir mixture so that it creates white streaked look that you see in restaurant soup of similar style. Add vegetables and any other optional ingredients you may like. Add salt, fish sauce, and/or soy sauce to taste.

- This lawnmower is a workhorse - I bought it locally from a mower shop who also sell serviced old machines years ago - they insisted the older ones are simple, always start and made tough - I haven't had any problems. It comes with catcher and plastic petrol bottle. The throttle lever/cable has been replaced but currently starts by manually pushing the lever forward and back to turn on and off. Inspections welcome.  Pick up Spotswood.

- Britain's royal family is among the world's most famous organizations -- and a costly one as well.
These days, the royal family is known for their lavish weddings, expansive tours and notable fashion as much as they are for their contributions to their nation.
But how do they pay for their security, travel, dining and more?
According to the BBC, the royals amass their fortune, in part, through the taxpayer-funded Sovereign Grant.
However, the queen and the other royals get the money in return for surrendering the profits from their slew of properties -- called the Crown Estate -- to the government, according to Business Insider.
Each year, the queen will receive an amount from the grant equivalent to 25% of the Crown Estate's profits, the outlet reports.
The grant will pay for the palace upkeep, the family's travel, royal employee payroll and more, but according to the Telegraph, the Grant doesn't cover costs for security and royal ceremonies, per BI.
Money for such assets and events comes from a portfolio of land that the family has owned for generations called the Duchy of Lancaster.
The Duchy is made up of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties, Insider reports, and contains $715 million worth of net assets.
In 2019, the portfolio earned $27 million, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The money is put toward "expenses incurred by other members of the royal family," as the royal family's website puts it.
As one would expect from a monarch, Queen Elizabeth II also outright owns a massive art collection, Balmoral and Sandringham Estates and more, according to a WSJ podcast.
Another Duchy -- the Duchy of Cornwall -- covers expenses for the queen's son Prince Charles and his family and heirs. The Duchy of Cornwall covers Duchess Camilla as well as Prince William and his family, BI reports.
Charles' son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle are financially independent and will earn money through their deals signed with Netflix and Spotify.
According to the outlet, The Wall Street Journal placed the value of the Duchy of Cornwall at $1.2 billion in 2019.
In total, the queen and Prince Charles control most of the family's money and divide it among the various family members.
Other, more distantly related members of the family, like Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, hold full-time careers outside of the royal family.

- Prime Minister Boris Johnson led the condemnation of the riot describing the scenes as "unacceptable", Home Secretary Priti Patel said "thuggery and disorder" would never be tolerated.
Andy Marsh, chief constable of Avon and Somerset Police, said the demonstration had been "hijacked" by several hundred "extremists".
Bristol mayor Marvin Rees, who said he had "major concerns" about the Government's Bill, condemned the thuggery but said the disorder would be used to justify the legislation.
The Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill would give the police in England and Wales more power to impose conditions on non-violent protests, including those deemed too noisy or a nuisance.
Those convicted under the proposed legislation could face a fine or jail.

- Medieval and early modern lawyers chose to write on sheepskin parchment because it helped prevent fraud, new analysis suggests.
Experts have identified the species of animals used for British legal documents dating from the 13th to 20th century, and have discovered they were almost always written on sheepskin, rather than goatskin or calfskin vellum.
This may have been because the structure of sheepskin made attempts to remove or modify text obvious.
Sheep deposit fat in-between the various layers of their skin. During parchment manufacture, the skin is submerged in lime, which draws out the fat leaving voids between the layers. Attempts to scrape off the ink would result in these layers detaching—known as delamination—leaving a visible blemish highlighting any attempts to change any writing.
