Future of Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Random Stuff, and More

There's a lot of worry/fuss around Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning at the moment and a question that recently popped up on a forum that I came across was the impact of AI/ML on our world and whether it would cause harm to and displace a lot of people from their jobs, livelihood, status, etc... Obviously, I research and work on a lot of stuff. I've also have become wiser to how the world works and have come to realise that a world built on an Open Source Core and Open Data is much more likely to succeed/progress then a world often covers up the truth, pretends that it's an honest, decent, caring, etc... in spite of massive inequality, injustice, hyprocrisy, lies, and a focus of on things and projects that don't really matter in the overall scheme of things. People don't really realise it but there is a chance at peace, justice, better healthcare outcomes, prosperity, perhaps even more meaningful lives if only they could see how far they can push AI/ML and understand how it can fit into our society:

TIRED OF PIXELATED JAPANESE PORN?
My friend Scott (張介騰) also struggled with this, so he decided to create the world's platform which used artificial intelligence and deep learning to replace the pixels with body parts. Not only did he do this, he attracted $80,000 USD in angel funding to bring the dream of A.I. powered uncensored Japanese adult cinematography to the world!

He was not only an important part of the Soviet elite but also a trusted servant of the police state.
As Catherine Belton points out in her illuminating study of Putin, "Putin's People", he was more significant in the KGB's operations in East Germany than has often been acknowledged.
Dresden had the advantage of being far from the focus of the Western media's coverage of the Cold War, which was centred on Berlin.
And Putin had particular responsibilities.
Speculation is rife that these duties included liaising with terrorist groups and smuggling the necessary advanced technology from the West which helped keep the sputtering Soviet economy going.

- I've figured out that you can literally see uneven global development via satellite imaging (and other simple physical metrics) and that GDP is a terrible way of measuring human progress (much of recent development has only gone to China anyhow according to World Bank figures so the only genuine winners in modern history as the US and China. GDP as a measure makes even less sense in a world which is dependent on money printing and debt. Doubly so because most people who make enormous amonts of wealth often lack real skill in other areas and have fine tuned their skills only in making money. You can see it in their investment decisions and how they splash out money on ideas that don't make reals sense and end up in failure in both a monetary and other senses)

- I've figured out that you can combine AI/ML with drones to automatically create homes for people using whatever materials are available in the area, auto-terraform areas that have been impacted by desertification, pollution, destruction, natural disasters, deforestation, etc... to create food, cover, homes, etc... for animals and tribal people, drones which can have secondary jobs such as delivery parcels as well as well as food packages/humanitarian packages, etc... The limits for this are restricted by your imagination

- I've figured out you don't need a lot of billionaires and business executives because their thought patterns are often patterned and can be replicated via very simple software. They're not as bright as many people think and I suspect sometimes they might not even realise how/why they were successful? This is reflected in how they can't replicate their success elsewhere or in a different time frame when conditions have changed? The edge of a lot of people of the people at the top seems to be that they're dodgy?

- I've figured out that you don't even need a large chunks of the global economy and that many jobs they are largely redundant because they don't require much skill or can be easily be replicated by AI/ML if people were willing to put the effort into this. The belief of Socialist/Communists seems to be a movement towards publicly owned/controlled assets. Given the amount of debt of in the world and government backing of enterprise they seem to be getting their wish. You can automate/force efficiency by shifting to blockchain and changing the risk formula so that there is an equal share of risk between creditor/debtor?

Actuarial science is the discipline that applies mathematical and statistical methods to assess risk in insurance, pension, finance, investment and other industries and professions. More generally, actuaries apply rigorous mathematics to model matters of uncertainty.
Actuaries are professionals trained in this discipline. In many countries, actuaries must demonstrate their competence by passing a series of rigorous professional examinations.
Actuarial science includes a number of interrelated subjects, including mathematics, probability theory, statistics, finance, economics, financial accounting and computer science. Historically, actuarial science used deterministic models in the construction of tables and premiums. The science has gone through revolutionary changes since the 1980s due to the proliferation of high speed computers and the union of stochastic actuarial models with modern financial theory.[1]
Many universities have undergraduate and graduate degree programs in actuarial science. In 2010,[needs update] a study published by job search website CareerCast ranked actuary as the #1 job in the United States.[2] The study used five key criteria to rank jobs: environment, income, employment outlook, physical demands, and stress. A similar study by U.S. News & World Report in 2006[needs update] included actuaries among the 25 Best Professions that it expects will be in great demand in the future.[3]

Syriana - Corruption
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuBstLZINco
[to lawyer Bennett Holiday] Some trust fund prosecutor, got off-message at Yale, thinks he's gonna run this up the flagpole, make a name for himself, maybe get elected some two-bit, congressman from nowhere, with the result that Russia or China can suddenly start having, at our expense, all the advantages we enjoy here. No, I tell you. No, sir! Corruption charges! Corruption?!! Corruption is government intrusion into market efficiencies in the form of regulations. That's Milton Friedman. He got a goddamn Nobel Prize. We have laws against it precisely so we can get away with it. Corruption is our protection. Corruption keeps us safe and warm. Corruption is why you and I are prancing around in here instead of fighting over scraps of meat out in the streets. Corruption is why we win.

Ethan: You told him. You told Davian Lindsey was coming, that's how he knew.
Musgrave: I thought you could get her back. But I wasn't going to let Brassel, to let all people, undo the work I'd done. I took action, Ethan. On the behalf of the working families of our country, the Army force, the white house. I've had enough of Brassel and his sanctimony. IMF director, he's an affirmative action poster boy. You grabbed Davian like he wanted, then what? Davian's a weed. You cut him out, two more spring up he's just like the next day. Arrest him, then what? You use him. Collaborate with him. And it's Christmas. In 18 hours, the Rabbit's foot will be sent to its Middle East buyer, and we'll have credible Intel to prove it. UN security counsil will get a report by this time tomorrow, we're talking a military strike in a week. And when the sand settles, our country will do what it does best: clean up, infrastructure. Democracy wins.

bourne "black on black" quote
Ward Abbott : So, what are we looking at?
Pamela Landy : I want to know about it.
Ward Abbott : Know about it? It was a kill squad. Black on black. We closed it down two years ago. Nobody wants to know about Treadstone. Not around here. So I think you better take this back to Marty and let him know exactly what you're doing.
Pamela Landy : He does. I've been down to the archives. I've have the files Ward. Let's talk about Conklin.
Ward Abbott : What are you after Pam? You want to fry me? You want my desk. Is that it?
Pamela Landy : I want to know what happened.
Ward Abbott : What happened? Jason Bourne happened. You got the files. Then let's cut the crap. Conklin had these guys wound so tight they were bound to snap. Bourne was his number one. The guy went for a job, screwed the op, never came back. Conklin couldn't fix it, couldn't find Bourne, couldn't adjust. It all went sideways.
Pamela Landy : So you had Conklin killed. I mean if we're cutting the crap.
Ward Abbott : I've given 30 years and 2 marriages to this agency. I've shoveled shit on 4 continents. I'm due to retire next year. But if you think I'm going to sit here and let you dangle me with this, you can go to hell. And Marshall too. It had to be done.

- I've figured out that it's not necessary to have supercomputers, rely on specific software libraries, rely on the FAANG companies, etc... to make AI/ML work in situations where resources are highly constrained if you use the right data, can filter for junk data, have the right search algorithms, have decent local programmers and skilled professionals with sufficient experience to feed it the right data and logic, etc... I worry that the education system that we have will not produce enough of the right type of people to be able to pull this off?

- I've theorised that you can enforce peace through the genuine practice of non-hypocritical/Smart Contract/Open Data based deployment of AI/ML in conjunction of AWT/Area Denial style systems. An Apocalyptic situaion only comes into play if the (offensive) defense industry as is takes control of this technology, if you decide to go fully automatic and network all relevant nodes, if you the base logic is wrong, etc... My vision is it for it to disable weapons systems non-destructively if possible within a given area which is causing trouble. I know that there is work on this and I have worked on much more advanced stuff then what I've posted on my blog but more on this later...

WHAT IS GUN VIOLENCE?
Gun violence is violence committed with the use of firearms, for example pistols, shotguns, assault rifles or machine guns.
How many people die from gun-related violence worldwide?
More than 500 people die every day from gun violence
44% of all homicides globally involve gun violence
There were 1.4 million firearm-related deaths globally between 2012 and 2016
The majority of victims and perpetrators are young men, but women are particularly at risk of firearms violence perpetrated by an intimate partner. Sexual violence can also be facilitated by firearms.
How many people are injured by gunshots worldwide?
An estimated 2,000 people are injured by gunshots every single day
At least 2 million people are living with firearm injuries around the globe

- I've been working on medical research AI/ML as well but there are so many lies to filter through and that seems to be just as important to understand as how to build AI/ML itself? There seems to be genuine cures/low cost treatments for some illnesses that the average citizen of the medical community isn't consdering? Filtering/finding them all automatically would reduce health care costs/expenditures significantly. The other fascinating thing that I've discovered is that you can often overlap/infer how the biological organisms work (this includes humans as well)

- I'm interested in creativity and how you can imbue that into AI/ML (extracting/finding the data to find out the needs and wants of people is easier said then done when the world is so dependent upon marketing/advertising/manipulion to the point that don't know what they truly want/need themselves). Like I said, heaps of work/jobs that people do are redundant. If our so called "esteemed leaders" can not find ways to make ways to harness our collective abilities and talents then surely creating AI/ML to help things along would help and not hinder us?

- if you read into the work of the many of the world's acclaimed organisations, research scientists in AI/ML, and other well known individuals you'll come to realise that the way the world is organised places shackles on you and it won't allow us to carry AI/ML to it's full potential. I see AI/ML working alongside humanity rather then displacing it. Unfortunately, the corporate/profit driven nature/winner takes all nature of the world means that it will likely end up displacing and reducing opportunities for many people. A tiny few bill benefit while the rest will take whatever scraps the top are willing go provide the rest with. You need to reshape and rethink society for this to work property. You must be happy to willing to displace greedy people, psychopaths/sociopaths, be willing to be honest with yourself and others, etc... for AI/ML to work out in a way that will benefit rather then cause greater harm to humanity. There seems to be ways to do this but only if people want it and only if they're willing to work for it. I know that all of the above and more is possible because I work on it and I can see the parts coming together but it just needs a little bit of push to mesh it all together and make it work properly. Many people may not realise it but we are at an inflection point which can take us in dramatically different directions. I worry that many people will choose the wrong way? I find it tragic that a lot of people want to use it only for finance/business management and nothing else when there's so much you can do with good AI/ML?

- many religions speak of the struggle between good and evil. That almost nothing should be taken off the table in order to achieve a closer relationship with God? The obvious confusing thing for anyone who has examined this space is how muddled the ideas are. Even in primary school I had begun to question much about what was being said. Why was God kind one moment but vengeful the next over such basic issues as whether you ate all of your food?, why did we only read from the New Testament and not the Old Testament?, why was faith and being good so crucial to an Afterlife/Ascension in spite of so many moral quagmires on Earth, why were all sins forgiveable in spite of some acts which caused incomprehensible harm to it's victims?, etc... This became even more confusing as I grew up. The nice thing is that I've found a sort of found a way to feel closer to God (if there is a God) while pursuing stuff that I like and am interested in. The more I understand science the more I seem to understand what/how certain religions may supposed to be interpreted (I suspect much of it is supposed to be interepreted metaphorically and not literally, it's a record of what has transpired in the battle between good and evil, etc...)? Obviously, we're not in the so called End Times but there are there indications of progress?

Stargate SG-1 - Season 5 - Meridian - Daniel relinquishes his mortal coil / Daniel ascends
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XI4Vvf0L3Ps
Rush: The Ancients did not devote the efforts of an entire generation to build this ship on a whim. Neither was Destiny named on a whim. Over a million years ago, the Ancients discovered the complex structure buried deep within the background radiation. The fingerprints of an intelligence that existed very near the beginning of time itself. Destiny was launched in search of that intelligence. Who knows how close we are to finding it. How close we are to learning, in the Ancients' words, "the destiny of all things." I don't pretend to know when that's going to be, in which stars it will happen, or even how that will change our view of the universe. I only know that Destiny has come this far and if we abandon her now, there'll be no coming back. All of that knowledge will be lost, forever. I believe this journey is the reason I'm here, but I can't hope to do it alone. I ask you to come with me.

Random Quotes:
- What do you call an economy of monopolies without competition or any regulatory restraints? An economy of monopolies that control both the buying and selling in the markets they control? Monopolies with the power to commit legalized fraud and the profits to buy political influence? Monopolies whose black box algorithms are all-powerful but completely opaque to public scrutiny?
Call it whatever you want, but it certainly isn't Capitalism, which requires competition and market transparency to price capital, labor, risk, credit, goods, services, etc.
Black Box Monopoly is the death of Capitalism as it eliminates competition and market transparency.
The American economy is now dominated by Big Tech Black Box Monopolies, and thus what we have isn't a "free market" system (a.k.a. capitalism), it's the pretense of capitalism, a slick PR cover for the most rapacious form of exploitation.
The SillyCon Valley model is simple: achieve monopoly power by scaling the network effect and buying up hundreds of potential competitors with stock "printed" out of thin air. Once monopoly is achieved, buyers and sellers are both captive to the Big Tech monopoly: both buyers and sellers of apps, for example, must submit to the profiteering and control of the Big Tech monopoly.
Once the profits flowing from monopoly pile up, buy back the shares you "printed" to eliminate competition, boosting the wealth of insiders to the moon. Since share buybacks were once illegal, this is nothing but legalized fraud.
Despite the immense destruction these Big Tech monopolies wreak on society, the political power they purchase protects them from any limits. That their platforms now control the flow of data, including political content and adverts, is brushed aside with the usual paradoxical claims of "free markets."
Ironic, isn't it? Big Tech Black Box Monopolies claim they shouldn't be exposed to any regulation because they've destroyed competition and transparency within the letter of the law. Monopoly platforms that control the flow of data, news and narratives are privatized totalitarianism, cloaked by the pretense of capitalism.
Like all totalitarian monopolies, Big Tech now claims "you can't limit us because now you depend on us." In other words, Big Tech is now too centralized and powerful to submit to any socio-political controls.
It's a neat trick, isn't it? Enrich the super-wealthy "investor class" with your buyback-juiced stock valuations, "buying" their loyalty and political pull with these outsized gains to keep your monopoly out of reach of any public scrutiny or limits on your profiteering and privatized totalitarianism.
That our society and economy are now in thrall to privatized totalitarian Big Tech monopolies is straight out of a Philip K. Dick story in which what's perceived as real has been manipulated by those who own the means of manipulation.
We're not just debt-serfs in central-bank feudalism, we're all serfs on Big Tech's platform plantations. If you don't love your servitude with sufficient enthusiasm, Big Tech has a special place for you: the Village of the Deplatformed, a village of ghosts who have disappeared from the platform plantations and who no longer show up in search, social media, app stores, etc.
Just as the Soviets snipped those sent to the gulag out of photos, the privatized totalitarian Big Tech monopolies cut out your selfhood and your income: Deplatformed doesn't just mean you disappear from view, it also means you've been demonetized-- your ability to earn money from your own content has been eliminated.
In effect, your labor, content and selfhood have been expropriated by Big Tech's totalitarian platforms. Big Tech monopolies don't just "own" the plantation of the mind, they own the platform plantations that control what we see, buy and sell, and what the algorithms collect and sell to everyone who wants to influence what we see, buy and sell.
All those who believe the privatized totalitarianism of Big Tech platform plantations are "capitalism" have been brainwashed into servitude by Big Tech's pretense of capitalism. Just because totalitarianism and fraud are now "legal" doesn't mean they're not evil.
Mark, Jesse and I discuss Big Tech's financialization of everything in Salon #18: The Endgame of Financialization Resembles a Philip K. Dick Novel-- a nightmarish world of deplatformed ghosts and digital galley slaves.

- He said that US companies should be keeping a close eye on what foreign companies are doing and ensuring that their own technology is relevant, according to Bloomberg.
Nadella also hinted at some of the critiques around companies like Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Google, which are all under antitrust scrutiny in the US. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have argued that these Silicon Valley firms have grown rapidly and crushed their competition, resulting in an unfair hold over the market.
"You need to have a business model that really is aligned with the world doing well," Nadella said. "There are certain categories of products where the unintended consequences of the growth on that category or lack of competition creates issues."

- The Army's expectations regarding trends were in keeping with a study conducted by Rand Corporation back in 1968 regarding peacetime accident/attrition rates for jet fighter aircraft. While the differences between high performance jet fighters and rotary-wing aircraft are so distinct as to nullify any direct comparison, three trends emerged from the study that are statistically relevant. First, there is a higher rate of accidents when a new system is first introduced due to the learning curve of those who interact with the aircraft, both pilots and maintenance crew. Second, if the aircraft is subjected to adequate maintenance and inspection, then its safety record should improve as aircrew proficiency accrues over time. Third, aircraft which inherited systems from a previous generation experienced higher system failure rates over time than completely new designs.
The Rand study tracks the performance record of the UH-60 during the expected lifetime of the aircraft – 25 years, with accidents due to aircrew error dropping off, and no increase in accidents due to system failure. But when the decision was made in 1999 to extend the service life of the UH-60 for another 25 to 30 years through a Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) that was scheduled to begin in 2002, then the Rand data regarding inherited system failure became applicable. Rand noted that the incident of aircraft accidents due to maintenance issues was higher at the tail end of service life for aircraft such as the F-86, which was derived from the F-84; and the F-16, derived from the F-102.
The extension program for the UH-60 basically created a new aircraft, the UH-60L, from the original UH-60A. In doing so, the statistical trend regarding aircraft failure rates would be skewed away from data reflecting a new system to one which considered the UH-60's "inherited" lineage from the UH-60A. In short, the Army could expect to see a marked increase in aircraft accidents attributed to system failure, especially as the UH-60L reached the end of its service life.

- According to estimates, more than 300,000 women and around 22,000 men received forced sterilizations in Peru between 1996 and 2000. In most cases, the operation was done without anesthesia or post-operative care.
The massive initiative, carried out over a period of four years by the government of then-President Alberto Fujimori, was known as the National Program for Reproductive Health and Family Planning and had poverty reduction as its alleged goal.
The International Criminal Court has condemned the measures, calling them crimes against humanity, but Peru's justice system continues to drag its feet on investigating the matter and prosecuting those responsible.

- In his 20s, he gambled away $1 million in just 10 days.
"And then after that, I didn't stop gambling straightaway, I continued," he said, adding that he gambled every day unless he had no money left.
Paul admitted it became "harmful" when he realised that he wasn't just losing his own money.
He was walking into his mother's and brother's rooms looking for cash, and went from borrowing money to desperately "taking" money.
By his 30s, he knew he had a problem and was introduced to a gambling support group run by his friend's father.
He said people at the support group spoke openly and honestly about their personal experiences, which encouraged him to speak up.

Dr Kwan said most players in the Chinese community — especially the elderly — usually gambled a very small amount of money or set a rule where the loser would have to treat the winner to a nice dinner.
"The data shows that only 3 per cent [of social gamblers] eventually develop a gambling disorder," Dr Kwan said.
However, he said new Australian migrants who developed an addiction often struggled to overcome it.
"They initially gamble for fun and socialising," Dr Kwan said.
"But at a deeper level, they use gambling as an attempt to ease loneliness."

Queensland authorities continue to hunt for answers days after a teenager allegedly driving a stolen car hit and killed a Brisbane couple.
...
Instead of spending time locked up for the 50 offences, the teenager was put on a "restorative justice order" - a system that encourages juvenile offenders to get in touch with their alleged victims of crime and make amends.
"The child who has committed the offence can begin to understand the impact of their actions," the Queensland government explains.
The 50 charges the teen previously pleaded guilty to included car theft, break and enter and robbery, according to the publication.

Judy Lindsay, ambassador for CARS (Citizens Against Road Slaughter), lost her 20-year-old daughter Hayley Russell in a crash with a drink driver in Alexandra Hills in 2009.
After the double fatal collision this week, she started a petition urging a further "clean up" of the state's Youth Justice Act.
Signed by more than 50,000 people by Thursday, it urges law reform including longer penalties for reoffending juveniles and time in prison without parole.
"We will never see our loved ones that have lost their lives … we will never have grandchildren and never see them again," it reads.

- Criminals will no longer get a 40 per cent discount off their sentence if they enter an early guilty plea for serious crimes, in the wake of new laws passing State Parliament today.
An early guilty plea for serious crimes such as manslaughter, rape and death by dangerous driving will now only attract a discount of up to 25 per cent.
Laws allowing judges to give up to a 40 per cent discount for early guilty pleas for major indictable offences were introduced by the former Labor government in 2013, but the current Government sought a review on taking office.
